Zela Henderson has been surrounded by animals since the moment she was born. Placed on a horse at just six months old, she developed a deep love for animals at a very young age. Zela grew up in a lively household with baby goats as siblings and dogs as her closest companions. Her rescue journey began when she saw her mother's passion for taking in neglected and abused animals. The process of rehabilitation and rehoming became a true gift, and she began to deeply appreciate their four-legged friends, connecting with their sensitivity on a deeper level. Zela became her mother's right-hand person on rescue missions; her knowledge of animals in need grew, and her passion for animal rescue blossomed. She has ambitious goals for this work, and with the Sun Horse Foundation, she'll have the opportunity to build upon the 30+ years of rescue efforts they’ve already accomplished.

Nona was born and raised in Ojai, California, where she grew up alongside her 11 siblings in a family that shared a deep connection to animals. From a young age, she developed a strong bond with the creatures around her, a passion that has only grown over the years.
As an adult, Nona continued to nurture her love for animals by raising her children on a small hobby farm, where they were surrounded by a variety of animals. Her lifelong commitment to animal welfare has led her to become involved with the Sun Horse Foundation, where she is proud to contribute her time and energy toward helping animals in need.
Nona has had the privilege of being involved with the Sun Horse Ranch for over 17 years. Throughout this time, she has witnessed firsthand the incredible work the foundation does, providing care and homes to animals in need. Nona has personally adopted several animals over the years, and she has seen the transformative impact the foundation has on the lives of these animals.
Her experience and dedication to animal welfare make her a valuable asset to the organization, and she is excited to continue advocating for the well-being of animals through her work with the foundation.
